USS Constellation & Baltimore's World Trade Center [background]
The United States Navy built three ships with the name USS Constellation, honoring, according to the U.S. Congress, the "new constellation of stars" on the United States flag.
With 32 stories, the World Trade Center Baltimore (WTCB), designed by I. M. Pei's firm, is located on the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and is the world's tallest equilateral five-sided building (the five-sided JPMorgan Chase Tower in Houston, Texas is taller, but has unequal sides). The 27th-floor observation deck ("Top of the World") allows an unobstructed view of Baltimore and beyond from 423 feet. You can see the entire Baltimore Inner Harbor "at your feet" below, historic Federal Hill Park to the south and the World Port of Baltimore's "outer harbor" to the southeast. (July 31, 2006)
