Husky Homestead / June 22, 2014

"Husky Homestead - Where dogs are kings!" This was an awesome experience. Husky Homestead is the home of four-time Iditarod Champion Jeff King. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!! For more information, go to Husky Homestead, actual website of Jeff King, or Alaska.org - Jeff King Husky Homestead Tour.

As a point of interest, an Alaskan Husky is not in actuality a breed of dog, but rather a category of dog. All breeds of highly efficient sled dogs fall under the Alaskan Husky category, as the Alaskan is the breed of choice for world-class dog sled racing and sprint competition. The majority of Alaskan Huskies have pointy ears and a tail that curls over their backs.

Each dog has their own "home" and know exactly which one is theirs. When we arrived - the dogs were a tethered but we were told this is not how it usually is. We were not allowed to go in that area but that was okay - we got lots of "puppy love."
