I decided to take one of my potted Poinsettias and put it in the ground this year. Let's see what happens in December :) Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is a favorite flower in the United States with its beautiful, red, star-shape. It is called the "Flame Leaf" in Central America or "Flower of the Holy Night" and was brought here over a hundred years ago by Dr. Joel Poinsett, our first ambassador to Mexico. Most of the poinsettias used now come from California. (January 22, 2006)
This is the same plant that is shown in the previous photo. It was quite full until a couple of caterpillars decided to feast on it. Notice the "empty" branches on the tops of two of the stems :) I decided to take one of my potted Poinsettias and put it in the ground this year.
